Five New Grants and Playground Funding Opportunities

If your organization has selected a new park or playground as a capital project for 2015, there are a number of methods that you can use to source part or all of the funding required for the purchase and installation of your playground. Purchasing quality equipment that is durable, and which offers years of worry free maintenance and use is key to augmenting the recreational facilities for your community. While commercial grade equipment can be expensive, it is a wise investment for long term use.

At All People Can Play we enjoy helping schools, churches, and residential communities to purchase and install high quality playgrounds. As part of our commitment to customer service, we have listed the following grants and funding opportunities to assist our clients in finding external financial assistance.

1. North Caroline Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF)

This is an ongoing public funding grant that supports the development of outdoor recreational facilities within the State of North Carolina. The PARTF is a dollar-for-dollar match with non-profit organizations for the establishment of new parks and recreation areas as well as for the refurbishment of older playgrounds and parks.

2. Lowe’s Toolbox for Education Grant

The Spring grant cycle is closed due to volume, but it is a good time to prepare for the Fall grant cycle applications which will be accepted starting in August, 2015. Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation (LCEF) has provided funding to more than 8,000 American schools to create gardens, build playgrounds, and assist with park rehabilitation projects.

3. Allstate Foundation Neighborhood Revitalization

If a member of your charity or private organization is employed by Allstate Insurance, they can provide an invitation to private grants available through the Allstate Foundation for projects including elementary schools, environmental projects, and more.

4. The Starbucks Foundation

In 2013 Starbucks Corporation gave $15.6 million dollars in corporate giving which included funding for community building programs, the Global Fund in partnership with (RED)™ and more.

5. National Recreation and Parks Association

The NRPA has partnered with the American Water Charitable Foundation (AWCF) to implement the “Building Better Communities” program. The grants are awarded for organizations that create nature-based playgrounds and natural play areas for children, while promoting water stewardship and environmental best practices.

In addition to grants and public funding opportunities, All People Can Play can also assist your organization with financing through some of our strategic partnerships.
